Sometimes I think the hardest obstacle to change, is actually beginning that change. We all come to some point in our lives where we want change and we want change to happen now. Yet, what I see to be the truth is that people want to change, yet they do nothing to go about getting the change that they truly desire. This can happen due to all sorts of reasons. Maybe its the fear of failing. Maybe its the fear of success. Maybe its the fear of making a mistake. Maybe it the feeling that you’re not good enough.
“Forget past mistakes. Forget failures. Forget everything except what you’re going to do now and do it.”
Someone once asked me ,“Why is it so hard for me to change?” I replied, “Maybe because you don’t really want to change.” She thought about it and it kind of made sense to her, so I elaborated on it. People maybe hesitant to change because people are afraid of change, and what that change means, or what that change may bring. The process of going through change can be frightening, but we forget that the change that we want is what were “changing” to get.
Another obstacle to change for many people, is their readiness. For example, we want a new job because we hate the job we have. OK… well common sense would direct you to look for a more satisfying job. Yet you don’t, why? Because the job you have is comfortable, you like the people you work with, and its close to your home. Yet you stick with that job knowing you don’t like working there. Another example, you are not happy with the relationship you are in. You want something that is less stressing, makes you happy, and DRAMA FREE. However, you stay in that relationship, why? Because it’s comfortable, you know his/her family, you don’t want to start over again with someone new and fear going through this whole thing again, so you stick it out because you don’t think it’s worth it and you have invested time.
When you’re ready for change, you will notice how the universe acts in a way to clear everything out of your path to make the necessary changes happen for you. After an ending to a very long relationship I was in, its amazing how all of these opportunities presented themselves. A spiritual teacher came into my life. Newer connections were made with different people, and a new energy took over my body. Everything just felt and looked different. The way I began to experience situations and events we’re very eye-opening and humbling. Things that I previously thought matter to me didn’t any longer. Relationships that I had with people changed. Before the relationship ended things were not well with me. I didn’t know who i was. I didn’t have an understanding of life or my purpose on this earth. When I was ready to let it go, things became much better for me.
“Forget past mistakes. Forget failures. Forget everything except what you’re going to do now and do it.”
If we can believe in this and apply it to our lives, we can get what we want. Guaranteed! We forget all the time that we are not living in the future and we are living in the NOW. NOW is what directs us to change for the FUTURE. We cannot live for the future; we can only live for the day in which we are living in. Yesterday can never be experienced in the same way it happened. You have absolutely no idea in regard to everything that will happen to you tomorrow. The past is an illusion. The future is a mere speculation. One of my favorite things to say is “Today is the beginning of the rest of my life!” Make the change that you want to see. It really is as simple as just doing it, or incorporating a game plan to start making those changes. There is no need to make it any harder than that.
“Forget past mistakes. Forget failures. Forget everything except what you’re going to do now and do it.”
When you come to the point in your life that you realize that you have made mistakes (We’re human, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, WERE SUPPOSED TO!) and connect it to the belief that past failures and frustrations are building blocks to make you and your foundation STRONGER, then you have reached a new level of understanding, and you’re on your way to making change really happen. Change begins with changing your thoughts. Are you confident enough in yourself to get that job? Are you scared to leave this relationship because you’re afraid you may not be in a relationship again? We’re all wonderful beings and our past mistakes are here to teach us. Take a look at yourself and see what it is that you want to change. Then figure out how you will bring about that change…and guess what? You’re already on your way because you have already changed!

Di
